Code of Ethics
Adopted the 1st February, 2023


Our Code of Ethics has been adopted by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of IAMSA CLASS | IAMSA GROUP LLC and summarizes standard and guidelines and is applicable to all Human Talent of IAMSA CLASS.


1 Compliance with Laws, Rules, and Regulations

We are strongly committed to conducting our business affairs with honesty, integrity and in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. No individual, organization, or stakeholder interacting with our organization shall be involved in illegal activities or unethical activities, nor instruct or instruct others to perform any kind of illegal act.


2 Prohibition from accepting any hospitality.

None of our employees, inspectors, auditors, is allowed to accept, receive any hospitality, entertainment and gift from any business associated or customer with whom IAMSA CLASS is dealing.


3 Confidentiality

IAMSA CLASS nor any employee will disclose any information obtained in the inspection, audit process, except if is required by government or court. IAMSA CLASS personnel shall not use information for private gain, financial or otherwise to benefit themselves or others.


4 Professionalism

Surveyors, inspectors, auditors are anticipated to uphold the utmost professional objectivity when collecting, assessing, and conveying information pertaining to the service.


5 Integrity

Integrity is the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles. IAMSA CLASS adheres to ethical standards, maintain consistency in their actions, and uphold honesty and transparency. Integrity builds trust and credibility, fostering positive relationships.


6 Impartiality

Impartiality ensures that decisions and actions are not influenced by personal preferences, favoritism, or discrimination. It promotes a sense of justice, equality, and fairness in all interactions. IAMSA CLASS in the performance of their activities shall always act with impartiality.
All potential customers shall have access to statutory certification and services provided by the RO without undue financial or other conditions. The procedure under which the RO operates shall be administered in a non-discriminatory manner.


7 Accountability

IAMSA CLASS and their members shall accept responsibility for their conduct. This includes acknowledging mistakes, learning from them, and taking corrective actions.


8 Conflict of Interest

A conflict of interest refers to a situation in which the personal interests, relationships, or activities of an individual associated with IAMSA CLASS may interfere, or appear to interfere, with their ability to make objective and impartial decisions in the best interests of IAMSA CLASS. This includes situations where personal interests may conflict with the interests of IAMSA CLASS, potentially leading to bias or compromise in professional judgment.


9 Independence

IAMSA CLASS and our staff shall nor engage in any activity that may conflict with our independence of judgement and integrity in relation to the statutory certification process. IAMSA CLASS and their staff responsible for carrying out the statutory certification and services will not be the designer, manufacturer, supplier, installer, purchaser, owner, user o maintainer of the items subject to the statutory certification and services, nor the authorized representative of these parties. IAMSA CLASS will not be substantially dependent on a single commercial enterprise for its revenue.


10 Competence

IAMSA CLASS shall perform statutory certification and services by the use of competent surveyors and auditors who are duly qualified, trained and authorized to execute all duties and activities incumbent upon their employer, within their level of work responsibility.


11 Transparency

Transparency reflects the principle of access to, or disclosure of, all information related to the statutory certification and services carried out by the IAMSA CLASS on behalf of a flag State. Information concerning the status of ships certified by ROs shall be made available to the public. IAMSA CLASS has developed in the Annex 1 a table with the information available for all concerned parties.


12 Compliance with this Code of Ethical

The Parties are obligated to adhere to all provisions outlined in this Code. Stringent enforcement measures will be applied, and any breaches will be promptly addressed. This may involve imposing corrective and/or disciplinary actions, such as dismissal or removal from office. Violations involving illegal behavior will be promptly reported to the relevant authorities.


Recognizing that situations involving potential violations of ethics, laws, rules, regulations, or this Code may not always be straightforward and may necessitate judgment and tough decision-making, the Parties are encouraged to promptly report any concerns. Such reports should be directed to IAMSA CLASS Compliance Department. This proactive approach ensures a commitment to transparency and upholding the highest ethical standards within the organization.
